Mission
Our mission is to enhance the mental health and overall well-being of individuals living with autoimmune diseases by providing resources and by creating supportive, inclusive communities where people can connect over shared experiences.

Vision
Our vision is to ensure that every individual living with an autoimmune disease (or several) finds solace and support through our organization. We envision a future where local support groups across the nation break social stigmas and serve as compassionate (and fun) havens, reducing feeling of isolation, and fostering a sense of belonging and understanding among individuals who navigate the daily challenges and triumphs associated with specific autoimmune conditions.
History
In 2019, the ‘Young Professionals Support Group” was formed by a passionate soul, looking for connection surrounding her IBD. Since the group’s inception, the role of main facilitator was passed from member to member until in 2023, when “Better Together” was born out of a collective vision of three support group voulnteers. Recognizing the immense value of the services they themselves had received, these individuals decided to extend their support to a wider audience.
Since 2019, Better Together/YPSG has facilitated over 30 support group events with over 40 members.
Our support groups differ from others because we embrace open conversations about chronic conditions, even at the dinner table. Our groups meet in social settings; restaurants, bowling alleys, bingo, etc. offering opportunities to connect with others and experience joy, when our conditions permit. Sometimes we laugh, and sometimes we cry, but no matter what we’re doing, it’s always better, together.
